Do Judge A Book By Its Cover

A few weeks ago on Instagram you might have seen @this little peek at the outside of our home...

We went {bold} as you can see! We chose BM's Midnight Blue {which is a dead ringer for Farrow & Ball's Hague Blue} for the exterior and BM's Vermilion for the door. Besides the exterior light next to the door, which is handmade by a local Richmond fabricator in conjunction with our beloved Shades of Light, the Euro-style mailbox @here is a favorite...

But our bold little beauty didn't start out her life this way...

So hard for me to picture now, but when I first fell for her she was just a boring beige box! And for the fun of it, let me show you just how difficult it actually is to turn a beige house into a blue house...

For {days} I was on pins and needles convinced that we were going to have to live in a smurf blue house for the rest of our lives! Our contractor, neighbors and my husband were sure that I was absolutely out of my mind at this point!! Luckily, the painters we worked with were awesome and reassured me I had made a great decision and I would love it when they were finished. Three coats later, I'm glad to say they {and I} were right...we still couldn't be happier with our deep blue beauty.

A lesson learned: First impressions are important. Absolutely, do judge a book by it's cover {when it comes to houses that is!}. The excitement around the neighborhood and amongst the crew was contageous after our house got a glossy coat of goodness. Our neighbor was actually inspired to paint her house too and I can't help but think our contractors were proud to come work in our home...and it has shown in all of the beautiful work they did here! I'll share some more snaps from around the house with you this week! Feeling blessed and inspired recently, how about you?? xx
