A DIY Mirror

I have this large mirror in our living room that I've never been totally in love with...but I like it functionally. It's big...which is great because it makes the space feel even bigger. I picked it up from a thrift store a while ago and painted it gold and distressed it a bit, which was a vast improvement from its natural wood finish. However, I saw this pic the other day and it stopped me in my tracks...

It's just stuff from the dollar store glued on to the frame and painted one unifying color! Since I have this thing with snakes, can't you just imagine a tangle of snakes on top of my mirror, all painted gold?? Off to the dollar store I go...will be reporting back soon!
